Frequently Asked Questions
How many people can we book for a trike tour?
We have three vehicles in our fleet to cater for 10 passengers. There are two trikes with four passenger seats and one trike with two passenger seats.
Are there any restrictions for passengers?
We cater to everyone between the ages of two and up. Seatbelts must be worn at all times in accordance with New Zealand law, and we have booster seats available for those under 7yrs old.
Covid passports are not required - we are an outdoor activity so we do not require our customers to be vaccinated, however we do ask that you wear your mask until seated.
Can you cater to those with a disability or special needs?
Yes! Our trikes are low to the ground and are easily accessible for those in a wheelchair. The rides are safe, stimulating and fun for everyone.
Do we need to wear motorbike helmets?
No, helmets are not required. Our trikes are registered with the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) as cars, not motorbikes, so three-point seatbelts must be worn at all times.
How safe are the trikes?
Your safety is paramount. Our trikes are subject to strict guidelines and are NZTA compliant. All of our vehicles go in for a full, independent mechanical inspection every six weeks. While this is not a legal requirement, we do it to ensure the safety of our passengers and other road users. All of our drivers are professional, reliable and hold a 'Passenger Endorsement' license.
Is there anything I need to bring on the trike?
Please wear sunglasses and bring along a warm jacket and raincoat. If you forget, we have glasses and clothing for you to borrow. You won’t want to miss a photo opportunity, so don’t forget your camera.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes. Cancellations are required 24 hours’ notice.
Do the tours still run when it's raining?
If it's pouring with rain, it’s not much fun taking a ride. However, if it’s just a light shower and you are wearing sunglasses and a raincoat, we can still hit the open road.
Where can we find you when we reach the Port of Tauranga?
On Cruise Ship Days we are located in Salisbury Avenue in Mount Maunganui, just outside the passenger exit from the port. Our booking office is at the front of the old police station, sporting banners and signage.
All other days pre-booked tours will depart from Downtown Mount Maunganui
YOU WON’T MISS US!!
Do I need to pre-book my tour?
To guarantee a seat, we recommend pre-booking. However, you are welcome to show up and take a tour if there are spots available.
Do tours return with ample time until my ship departure?
Absolutely. We aim to finish one hour before your cruise ship departs. Our last passengers of the day get dropped at the port gates.
Will the guides tell us about the area?
Our drivers are also your guide. They conduct an informative drive around downtown Mount Maunganui and Tauranga City covering local knowledge, history and culture. Our drivers will also be able to provide additional information at the various photo-op stops and answer any questions you may have.
Can I hire a trike for my wedding vehicle?
We can provide our trikes for any occasion and dress them accordingly to your style requirements.
I want to hire a trike for a special occasion. How much does it cost?
We hire our trikes by the hour. Please complete our Private Hire form to request a quote.
Does the trike hire include a driver?
Yes. We’re a package deal and only hire out trikes with our professional drivers. They are not available for self-drive.
Will you travel outside the Tauranga region for private bookings?
We’re more than happy to provide a quote to transport our trikes to a location outside of the Bay of Plenty area.
